    Taiwanese enterprises to join Malaysian halal business


      In order to enhance the understanding of the global Muslim halal business opportunities, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, CDRI and the Certified Agricultural Standards Organization, will hold the seminar “An overview of halal agricultural products and processed products business opportunities – Malaysian agricultural / aquatic products and halal business opportunities” in the afternoon of August 24th, at Taichung office of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. Taiwan’s top agricultural and processing products enterprises are welcome to participate.

      The Malaysian halal food market is booming, mainly due to the growing Muslim population and rising incomes. The country has a multi-ethnic population. Among the 32 million people in Malaysia in 2017, the citizens included Malays (61.7%, 19.77 million) , Chinese (20.8%, 6.66 million), Indian (6.2%, 1.99 million); non-citizens accounted for 10.4% and about 3.32 million.

      In this seminar, researcher Jeremy Lee from CDRI will introduce the import inspection and customs clearance process for the entry of agricultural food into the Malaysian market. Researcher Alan Lin will provide first-hand information on Malaysian buyers and channel information, and the General Manager Lin of M&A Agricultural will be invited to share the experience of expanding the business in Malaysian food and halal market.

      Through this seminar, more domestic industries will receive the first-hand information on Malaysian halal business research and investigation and enhance the understanding of import inspection, quarantine and customs clearance procedures and business opportunities.       From now until 11th September, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan entrusted CDRI to conduct the "Taiwanese agricultural/aquatic products and processed products manufacturers and Muslim market buyers matching project", and applying sessions will be held on 16th August in Kaohsiung, 21st August in Taichung, and 22nd August in Taipei.
