The Commerce Development Research Institute will host the ”2024 1st Taiwan International Model United Nations Meeting“ on 12/5 (Thu.) and 12/6 (Fri.) at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Model United Nations (MUN) is a transnational academic exchange event that is widely held in schools and cities around the world. With the emphasis on diversifying education and integrating it with international standards, various colleges and high schools in Taiwan have also established Model United Nations clubs.
MUN requires participants to act as representatives of countries other than their own, conduct consultations and negotiations, and cultivate cross-cultural communication, perspective taking and critical thinking skills.
This event is co-hosted by the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI), the Model United Nations Society Taiwan (MST), and Longteng Education Co., Ltd. (Longteng Education), aiming to help students understand the rules of procedure through simulated international conferences. and enhance international vision and competitiveness.
The event lasted for two days, covering the opening ceremony, training courses, three simulation meetings and social banquet. The theme centered on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discussed issues such as education, gender equality, social security, food resources, and climate change.
The entire meeting will be conducted entirely in English and followed the Model United Nations format. Participants need to upload a motivation letter and attend in formal attire. Participants will receive participation certificates after the two-day process, which is a perfect bonus for students to prepare school applications. After the event, a number of awards will be awarded, and the total amounts of prizes will be NT$30,000.
Participants are not limited to nationality, any public or private high school vocational students, public or private college students in Taiwan, with comprehensive English proficiency of CEFR B2 (including B2, or equivalent English proficiency test) or above, and who are familiar with Model United Nations activities, international Anyone who is interested in the matter is welcome to sign up.
