    Taiwan Ocean Chain Globally/ CDRI Build Yacht Culture/ Fun Yacht Tourism in Penghu/ Penghu Yacht Fes

    Penghu has the world's most beautiful certified bay, with the development of yacht leisure and potential related marine tourism for the integration of Taiwan's yacht culture. President Tain-Tsair Hsu of Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI), Penghu Governor Mr. Kuang-Fu Chen, Vice President of Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts Mr. Jun-Xiong Lin, Chairman of Board Director of Argo Yacht Club Mr. You-Lin Hou, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the morning of 23rd today. To create a new global economic collaboration model, by science and technology, intellectualization, networking, cultural innovation, environmental protection, globalization, assisting yacht tourism industry innovation and marketing, in order to expand the development of domestic and international consumption market.

    Goal in Innovative Global Economic Collaboration Matches New South Bound Policy

    Inside the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the CDRI, Penghu County Government, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Argo Yacht Club that CDRI has used these new industrial trends for assisting development of yacht leisure, marine tourism, international marketing programs and innovative business model: "Technology, intellectualization, networking, cultural innovation, environmental protection and globalization". Penghu county, the geographical environment with the potential development of yacht leisure and related marine tourism, is with no doubt Asia's most developed and has the most potential in becoming yacht life paradise; Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts as the world's top eco-cultural hotel management team, its business philosophy focus on living environment, can be integrated into local cultural characteristics; and Argo has invested nearly a billion of dollars to build professional yacht terminal for Penghu, and intends to increase investment of 3 billion development at Anping District in Tainan as of Asia's Miami. This is the first cross-border integration of collaboration, thus hoping through this project that industry, government and research institute can support each other in cooperation platform to create a new model of international service industry collaboration.

    According to CDRI, Taiwan is the world's top four yacht manufacturing country, but the produced yachts mostly export to Europe and the United States, thus our leisure by yacht rate is very low, in this culture and marine tourism management and services, according to that survey: recreational sports activities that in water recreation section accounted for 58%, in which, the yacht and cruise ship preferences have increased year by year trend from 17% in 2014, 30% in 2008 to 34% in 2015.

    In addition, compared with Australia, people owns a yacht in every 30 people, Taiwan only has 424 registered yacht vessels in 2016, which shows the future of Taiwan's yacht and marine tourism consumption market still has major prospect for growth; and Taiwan’s yacht leisure activities will be able to attract the Northeast to Southeast Asia, so that more ASEAN tourists will come here for Taiwan's marine recreation activities, we will be able to expand our tourism from the land to the ocean of the blue ocean market.

    CDRI further noted that the development of the international yacht leisure industry requires not only professional club management, yacht coaching/certification, docking, maintenance, second-hand yacht sales and other peripheral services, as well as catering, hotel accommodation and so on, becoming the future key integration of eco-circle for yacht.

    Approaching late June, "Taiwan Penghu Yacht Festival" travel package & marketing coaching program will be held in collaboration with each other and continuously go through strategic cooperation & assistance in the future, so that Taiwan is no longer just an important yacht manufacturer, but also a marine tourism of cultural and creative tourists destination, take tourism and leisure industry to attract global consuming capacity, therefore, the "yacht manufacturer" upgrading to "yacht culture" to build from the land living to the ocean in extend to new type of marine industry network.
