    Hsu Tain-Tsair: Add “City Business Competitive Index” Establish the Central Taiwan Branch and Southe

    The Commerce Development Research Institute (referred as CDRI in the following) held the hand-over ceremony for the 4th office of the president in the morning on 29. With the Deputy Minister Wang of the Ministry of Economic Affairs as witness, Hsu Tain-Tsair the new President of CDRI received the seal from the vice President Chang Pen-Tsao. In his inauguration speech, he expressed that in the future he expects CDRI will help upgrade the small and medium businesses and service industry in Taiwan.

    After the ceremony, President Hsu expressed in an interview that he hopes he can contribute all he can to Taiwan’s economy. Therefore, arranged by superiors, he takes pleasure in accepting the appointment as President of CDRI. His first and the most urgent task is to make CDRI’s financial and personnel affairs transparent and open to the public. In the future, he is going to endeavor to the cubic-crossing module reformation of the existing business structure, engage in the industry-academia-government cooperation, and become the bridge between the local and central government. Regarding the operational goal of NT$ 420 million of CDRI in 2017, he has presented his confidence. At present, the sum of the cooperation cases has already exceeded NT$100 million. Next year, he is optimistic that the total will soar to NT$ 450 million. He and his colleagues will do their best to achieve this goal.

    President Hsu pointed out further that different from other think tanks that do not serve the local communities, CDRI will launch the “City Business Competitive Index” in the future. However, related indexes will not be announced to the public. The indexes will be set according to the attributes of different cities in order to help local governments to promote urban development and invite investment. At the same time, it will help promote the government’s new south policy. Now, CDRI is discussing cooperation issues with 2 to 3 regional governments. In 9 months’ time, the central Taiwan branch and southern Taiwan branch will be established and operated the soonest to contribute all it can to the regional governments and small and medium enterprises.
