Using your “heart” in service industry – analysis for the future of 5 major industries

Gone are the days when Taiwanese spared no effort in chasing thin margin, spec and labor-intensive industries. The service industry has contributed 70% of overall GDP in Taiwan. The flexible, exquisite and timely service features have made Taiwan a great place to live. In the future, Taiwan should leverage its service industry, and explore the world with more systematic research and knowledge support. The Taiwanese government should assist corporations to explore international business opportunities. for this reason, the leader of Taiwan’s business research – Commercial Development Research Institute (CDRI) has collaborated with Common Wealth Magazine to host “2014 International Service Industry Forum” for three days starting from Dec 9th. A total of nine seminars will exhibit exceptional research results and help related experts familiarize themselves with industry trends as well as applications to improve overall competitiveness.

The other day, Minister without Portfolio in the Executive Yuan, Du Zijun, mentioned in a speech to the General Chamber of Commerce that Taiwan’s service industry is in dire need of paying attention to research and development for future upgrades. According to statistics, in 2013 Taiwan only invested 8 million NTD in research and development. In the future, we need continuous research to sustain the industry and to help the industry transform, innovate and modularize. CDRI plays such a critical role to perform in-depth studies for Taiwan and International trends from the aspects of retail, logistics, dining, fashion and health care, helping many corporations explore market opportunities.
