    2018 Prospective international conference on water conservancy development held to link up southbound opportunities

      In order to enhance the flood-resistance and resilience of the cities and implement the vision and goals of the forward-looking water environment, Water Resources Agency, MOEA  held the three-day "2018 International Conference on Water Conservancy Development" in Taipei. Under the theme of “Linking New Southbound to Create New Business Opportunities on Water Resources”, CDRI invited experts from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, to give a series of keynote speeches. Leader Chang of the Planning Division of Water Resources Agency, MOEA also explained the current situation and vision of Taiwan's water conservancy industry and hoped to explore opportunities for cooperation with the Southbound countries.

      In recent years, with the development of smart technologies such as IoT, Industry 4.0, and big data analysis, Taiwan's water conservancy industry has begun to transform into a high-value service innovation model. Through Taiwan's rich water environment management, management experience and robust industrial communication technologies such as ICT and IoT, it is a future development trend to create higher value for Taiwan's water conservancy industry with the water service innovation model.

      Professor Tien-Jin, Chang of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management, National Taipei Unversity of Technology and professor Sheng-Jie, You of Environmental Engineering of Chung Yuan Christian University hosted the conference separately for morning and afternoon sessions. Director Mohammad Zainal Fatah of the Ministry of Water Resources Infrastructure of the Ministry of Economic Coordination of Indonesia, Professor Fernando Sajonia, Jr. of the Mapua University, Philippines, Professor Kua-Anan Techato of the Prince of Songkla University, Associate Professor Bui Xuan Thanh of Vietnam National University, Professor Wahyono Hadi of Surabaya University of Technology, Indonesia, Manager Chung of PT. Tanjung Tiara Indonesia, Manager Ho of Sales Dept. of Mega Securities, Director Lai of University Tunku Abdul Rahma, Malaysia and the General Director Jao-Jen Huang of CDRI all gathered for the conference.

      Through the conference, cross-industry or alliance of same industry and international cooperation will be promoted, business models created for water supply, distribution, sell and dispatch, also financial transactions, big data application science and other services been introduced to upgrade the service of domestic vendors. Business model suitable for the development of Taiwan's SMEs will be created for business opportunities in Taiwan and the new southbound countries.
